不定詞：to + 原形動詞Infinitives (to + Verb)

動詞 + to V：想要、決定、希望做某事

中文說「我想吃拉麵」，兩個動詞直接排在一起。英文一個句子通常只能有一個主要動詞，第二個動詞要變成 to + 原形動詞，這就是不定詞。want、would like、decide、hope、plan、need、learn 後面都接 to V。

• I want to eat ramen for dinner.我晚餐想吃拉麵。

• My sister decided to join the dance club.我姊姊決定加入熱舞社。

• We hope to see you again.我們希望再見到你。

• Ben is learning to ride a bike.Ben 在學騎腳踏車。

It is + 形容詞 + (for 人) + to V

「學英文很有趣」如果寫成 To learn English is fun，主詞太長、頭重腳輕。英文習慣先放 It 當假主詞，把真正的主詞 to V 移到後面。想說「對某人來說」，就在形容詞後面加 for + 人。

• It is fun to learn English.學英文很有趣。

• It's important to get enough sleep.睡飽很重要。

• It is hard for me to wake up early.早起對我來說很難。

疑問詞 + to V：「該怎麼、該去哪裡……」

how、what、where、when 後面接 to V，意思是「該……」。它常放在 know、tell、learn、show 後面，整組當作受詞。

• I don't know what to say.我不知道該說什麼。

• Can you tell me how to get to the MRT station?你可以告訴我怎麼去捷運站嗎？

• We can't decide where to go this weekend.我們決定不了這個週末要去哪裡。

to V 表示目的：「為了……」

中文說「我去便利商店買飲料」，英文要說 I went to the convenience store to buy a drink，用 to V 說明做這件事的目的。想強調「為了」，也可以寫成 in order to V。

• I went to the convenience store to buy a drink.我去便利商店買飲料。

• Mom gets up early to make breakfast.媽媽早起做早餐。

• He studies hard in order to pass the exam.他為了通過考試而用功讀書。

to V 的四種用法

to 後面一律用原形動詞：to go、to eat，不能寫 to goes、to eating。

常見錯誤

• ✗I want eat ramen.
  ✓I want to eat ramen.中文「想吃」兩個動詞連在一起，英文第二個動詞要變成 to V。
• ✗She decided to joins the club.
  ✓She decided to join the club.to 後面一律接原形動詞。
• ✗It is hard to me to wake up early.
  ✓It is hard for me to wake up early.「對某人來說」要用 for + 人。
• ✗I go to the library for borrow books.
  ✓I go to the library to borrow books.中文「為了」常讓人想用 for，但表目的要用 to V，for 後面不能接原形動詞。
