be 動詞是「是、在」

英文的句子一定要有動詞。說「我是學生」「他很高」「書在桌上」這種句子時，中文不一定有動詞，英文卻要放一個 be 動詞。be 動詞會跟著主詞變成 am、is 或 are。

• I am a student.我是學生。

• Tom is tall.Tom 很高。

• The books are on the desk.書在桌上。

主詞跟 be 動詞怎麼配

you 不管是「你」還是「你們」，一律用 are。

否定句：在 be 動詞後面加 not

is not 可以縮寫成 isn't，are not 縮寫成 aren't。am not 沒有縮寫成一個字的寫法，只能寫 I'm not。

• I am not hungry.我不餓。

• She isn't at home.她不在家。

• They aren't my classmates.他們不是我的同學。

問句：把 be 動詞搬到句首

肯定句的主詞和 be 動詞對調，句尾改成問號。回答時用 Yes, 主詞 + be. 或 No, 主詞 + be + not.，主詞要換成代名詞。

• Are you a new student? — Yes, I am.你是新同學嗎？——是的，我是。

• Is your brother busy? — No, he isn't.你哥哥忙嗎？——不，他不忙。

• Where are my keys?我的鑰匙在哪裡？

常見錯誤

• ✗I is a student.
  ✓I am a student.I 只配 am。
• ✗My parents is teachers.
  ✓My parents are teachers.parents 是複數，要用 are。
• ✗She very tall.
  ✓She is very tall.中文「她很高」沒有動詞，英文不能省掉 be 動詞。
• ✗Yes, I'm.
  ✓Yes, I am.簡答放在句尾時不能縮寫。
