context 是「上下文、脈絡」——判斷一件事的周邊資訊。閱讀測驗的「從上下文推測字義」就是 from context，這是它在考卷上最常出現的位置。
常見錯誤
- in context（放在脈絡裡看）／out of context（斷章取義）——差一個介系詞意思相反。
- context 通常不可數，但講不同的情境時可以複數：in different contexts。
- 跟 contest（比賽）只差一個字母，考卷上要看清楚。
