contend 有兩個常用意思：contend that（主張）與 contend with（應付、對付）。介系詞決定意思。
常見錯誤
- contend with a problem 是「應付問題」，contend that 是「主張」，兩者不能混。
- 跟 content 只差一個字母，但 contend 沒有「滿足」的意思。
- 名詞是 contention；a point of contention 是「爭議點」。
