什麼時候用
amount 修飾不可數名詞，number 修飾可數名詞複數。這是英文寫作最常被抓的錯之一，而中文的「量」與「數」不分。
常見錯誤
- a large amount of water（不可數）／a large number of students（可數）——用錯就是文法錯。
- the number of + 複數名詞 當主詞時動詞用單數：The number of students is rising。
- a number of + 複數名詞 當主詞時動詞用複數：A number of students are absent。這一組跟上一條剛好相反。
