什麼時候用
violate 是「違反（規定、協議、隱私）」，是及物動詞。它跟 violent（暴力的）共用字根，但現代意思已經分家——violate 不含暴力的意思。
常見錯誤
- violate 是及物動詞，後面直接接受詞，不加介系詞。
- violate 與 violent 只差字尾，但一個講違規、一個講暴力，不能靠字根猜。
- 名詞是 violation：a violation of the rules。
