什麼時候用
premise 是「前提」,一個論證所依賴的假設。複數的 premises 另有一個完全不同的意思:「(建築物的)場所」。
常見錯誤
- premises(複數)是「場地、房舍」,不是「多個前提」——on the premises 是「在場內」。
- 跟 promise(承諾)只差一個字母,發音也接近。
- on the premise that... 是「基於…的前提」。
