什麼時候用
appreciate 的受詞是「事」不是「人」。想謝謝某人要說 I appreciate your help，不能說 I appreciate you。它另外還有「理解」與「增值」兩個意思。
常見錯誤
- I appreciate you 在正式英文裡不成立；謝人用 I appreciate your help／what you did。
- 後面接動名詞不接不定詞：I appreciate your helping me。
- I would appreciate it if... 的 it 不能省略——這是英文書信最常漏掉的一個字。
