by Starry Sky Club · Oct 2026

Have you ever seen the Milky Way with your own eyes? For most people who live in cities, the answer is no. Streetlights, buildings, and signs fill the night sky with light, so only the brightest stars can be seen. This problem is called light pollution, and it means that many young people have never seen a truly dark sky.

The Starry Sky Club invites you to discover what you have been missing. Join our weekend trip to Hehuanshan, one of the darkest places in Taiwan, where on a clear night you can see thousands of stars and even the faint band of the Milky Way.

Date: Saturday, November 14 to Sunday, November 15 Meeting point: Taichung HSR Station, 1:00 p.m. (Transportation by bus is included.) Cost: NT$2,800 per person, including dinner, breakfast, and a shared room at a mountain lodge Who can join: Anyone aged 15 or older. No experience is necessary.

During the evening, an professor from a local university will show you how to find famous and planets. You will also have the chance to look through professional and learn how to take photos of the night sky with your phone.

Please note that the temperature on the mountain can drop below zero, even when it is warm in the city. Bring a heavy jacket, gloves, and a hat. Because the road is long and winding, those who get carsick are advised to bring medicine. Whether the sky is clear depends on the weather, of course. If clouds cover the stars, we will hold an indoor about the instead, and you can stay for a second chance at sunrise. Places are limited to 30 people. Sign up on our website by October 31.
