The Noise in the Kitchen

It is night, and the house is quiet. My family is in bed. Then I hear a noise in the kitchen. Crunch, crunch! Is it a mouse? Is it a ghost?

I am afraid, but I am brave, too. I get out of bed and walk to the kitchen. I open the door and turn on the light.

A big man is at the table. It is my father! He has a cookie in his mouth. "Do not tell your mom," he says. Then he gives me a cookie, too.
