My Puppy Training Diary

Saturday, July 5. Today we brought home a puppy from the animal ! She is brown and white, with one ear up and one ear down. We named her Mochi because she is soft and round, just like the rice cake. She was scared in the car, so I held her in my arms all the way home.
Monday, July 7. Mochi is cute, but she is also a little . She chewed my , my homework, and the leg of the sofa. She also made two puddles on the kitchen floor. Mom was not happy. I decided to start training her right away. I watched some videos and made a plan.
Thursday, July 10. Training is harder than I thought. I tried to teach Mochi to sit. I said "Sit!" twenty times, but she only jumped on me and licked my face. Then my uncle gave me some advice: "Use small treats, and give her a treat right after she sits. Keep the lessons short, and always stay and patient." So today I tried again with tiny pieces of chicken.
Sunday, July 13. It worked! When I held a treat above her nose, Mochi looked up, and her bottom went down. "Sit!" I said, and I gave her the chicken right away. We practiced for five minutes every morning and every evening. Now she can sit, and she is starting to learn "Stay."
Saturday, July 19. Two weeks before, Mochi was a little . Today she sat by the door and waited for me before our walk. I felt so proud of her. I learned something important from my puppy. A dog can't well in one day, and a person can't either. Small steps, lots of practice, and a little reward at the end work best for both of us.
